So you know the backstory to ihearditon.com, but like Ant and Greg, I'm going to offer up how I find music online.
First thing you should know is that I'm a bit of an explorer - recommendations from friends or blogs I follow usually lead me to a site that I haven't been to before, and then out of curiosity I see what else they have to offer, whether I like the link or not. That's how I discovered JP's blog, and Trials & Tribulations.
When I've found something I like, I usually add the site's RSS feed to my "dashboard." I now have about 22 sites that I follow on a daily basis via their RSS feeds, which I prefer because they update in real-time. Add 54 Twitterers that I follow, and I get a pretty good view of what's out there.
Second thingyou should know about me is that I trust my own tastes, but I rely on guys like Greg, Ant, and DJ ForeignDomestic for recommendations - people who love music, know music, and whose tastes I've grown to trust over the years. As much as I know what I like, I also know how fast music evolves - so I like to "stay current." But music is also cyclical - it's amazing to see how a style you like resurfaces later in life.
Like with Charles Hamilton, who reminds me of what The Pharcyde sounded like over 16 years ago. But he's not The Pharcyde - he's one guy, with a smooth sound, mellow flow and playful lyrics who's convinced me from the sidelines that maybe, just maybe, Brooklyn girls are indeed better than Harlem girls.
Third thing you should know is that my tastes wander. M.I.A. started out for me as someone who was brilliantly weaving together the sounds of early 90s hip hop with the sounds of Jamaica, Sri Lanka, Africa, and the cultural boiling pot that is London. Now she's my workout music.
I like Panda Bear, but the heretic within me refuses to buy into the Animal Collective hype that's percolating online (like here and here), at least until I've heard the whole album. In another case, I have Rage Against the Machine on a playlist with Chubb Rock (and yes, that playlist is actually pretty good).
So given that my tastes wander, I'm open to anything (except death metal - even at my angriest I'm not that angry).
Because I explore and have varied tastes, but only truly cling to what I like, I find myself confronted with a problem - in the real world, I know I can trust guys like Ant to find new music; but on the web I don't know who to trust to find this music.
So I've rounded up a few people that I do trust, set up this site and this feed, and have built the initial foundations of a one-stop shop for all of us. I believe that if we build something that is useful for us (Andrew, Ant, Greg, DJ ForeignDomestic), it will be useful for you, too.
Shoot us an email - editor@ihearditon.com - and let us know what you think of our one-stop shop.

I just released my new mashup, PT.3 - "Old School Meets New School" and I would love if everyone gave it a listen! This is the 3rd part of my 4 part mashup/mixtape that will span over 2 hours of continuous music with different themes, so I am really excited about this project and I just want as many people as possible to hear it and get the word out as I start booking dates for the fall.
